Mareks?? New to all of this

Should I also vaccinate the ducks that I'm hatching for Mareks? No real changes in Condor. She's eating and drinking real good but her legs aren't working. She now lays most of the time with one leg front and one leg back. So from what I've researched I'm sure it's Mareks. I'll give her some more time, but in the end I won't let her suffer if she doesn't improve at all.

I personally would not vaccinate the ducks; Marek's is not known to be infectious in ducks and using a vaccine on them that was tested for chickens would make me a bit nervous. Ducks can get other diseases, but Marek's has not yet been observed in ducks.

How is she doing? I hope she can pull through. Some do! Some don't. Use your best judgement.

Well, As of yesterday Condor wasn't moving or flexing one of her legs at all, and the leg was just cold and stuff.
The same vet that I took her to (who I know does not specialize in birds! Cows are his thing...but out here its over 50 miles to any vet specialist)...was out here this morning for my horses and dogs spring shots. I hate giving up, but I was feeling it in my heart that she was suffering. So while the vet was here, i had him give her a shot to send her on to heaven. Ugh.

I agree with Nambroth, I would not vaccinate the ducks. I have some in my flock, and they were not effected by my chicken at all. Sorry for your loss, but it was probably good that she did not have to suffer anymore.

I'm so sorry. I had to do that with a really well loved rooster and it was very hard. I hope the best for the rest of your flock. Will you have her tested?

We buried her right away....if (hopefully not) we end up with another one like her, I will have the testing done

I'm sorry you lost Condor. I'm glad you may get her tested. If you ever get chicks, get them vaccinated, or vaccinate and quarantine them . If you get unvaccinated chickens, they will likely die.

I'm sorry for your loss. Very sad. :( I hope your new chicks and ducklings (when they hatch) are fun for you!
