Marek's or something else? Need advice :(

So sorry this awful thing has happened! Recently experienced he same symptoms with one of our bantams and we did euthanize him. Vet sent out blood to be tested for Marek's, so yes, there is a test. Unfortunately for me, there was not enough blood to test. Now I just wait and pray that it was not Marek's. Normally, I vaccinate all my chicks but these were rescue chicks. Never again!

Keep in mind that botulism can seem like Mareks, but it progresses very fast with total paralysis in 24 hours, where Mareks would move much slower. If you live in an area like I do with chickens going into creeks and woods and pastures, there can be dead animals, fish, maggots, or vegetation that they can eat, and get the botulinum toxin. In the Mareks Faq by Nambroth, there are several other diseases that can look ike Mareks.
