SO, we had hen die from Marek's. Now the questions:

Do we have to cull the rest of the flock?

Can we use the eggs the rest of the flock is laying?

From what I've been reading the Marek's virus is everywhere and if your chickens aren't vaccinated then it's quite possible they will eventually become infected with it. About half our flock isn't vaccinated (hatched here). We haven't had new chicks for 2 years so I'm surprised that this is happening now. Maybe because they've been shut up all winter, or maybe that chicken just developed a compromised immune system and wasn't able to fight it off. We've had a couple of otherwise healthy chickens and one very favorite rooster die suddenly this winter with no symptoms, so I'm suspecting this might have hit them too.

Are the eggs a problem? This is my 13 yr old son's flock and he has customers who absolutely LOVE his eggs. I'd hate to seehim have to start over from scratch.

THANKS!
