Thought I'd go ahead and start a thread to follow my very first experience with ducks.
Let's preface this with I'm a chicken person. I have never owned ducks. I have been reading and learning, but I am positive that I will have a million questions along the way. Most likely two million concerns.
This spring, a couple friends will be shipping me Call eggs to hatch. I've never used an incubator either. So that's scary. I have noticed that they seem 10x more complicated than a broody. There will be so many questions regarding that. Most likely mainly that.
Once I hopefully hatch these tiny cute things, the rest *should* be smooth sailing. Until then I'll be a nervous wreck.
I already have a nice pen and house. Need to put in a pond. Going to look at a preformed liner here soon. Plans are to put a drain in it and run PVC below it and out of the pen. That way cleaning is easier. I will log all that process here as it happens.
I ordered an incubator yesterday. Let theanxiety fun begin!
