It is common practice in some South American countries to feed chickens marigold flowers then fraudulently market or sell the eggs as some kind of super Organic eggs. The cheap or false yellow color that marigold blossoms produces is the hook that shady egg merchants use to hook the billfolds of the unwary.

If you want to increase your egg color and nutritional fact add Paprika powder, hot and sweet to their feed.
You will get eggs like this: (my chickens eggs)

To darken egg yolks feed a supplement that is high in carotenoids.
Marigolds are in some feeds to help darken yolk color but note that the leaves of the marigolds contain high amounts of Lutein (a carotenoid) and can change white skin fowl to yellow (a major flaw in show birds).
