Marilyn has it in for me

I’ve owned chickens for almost 10 years and I’ve never had a chicken do this to me. I’m sure it’s instinctual, but I’m on Marilyn’s bad list as of late. She’s a lavender Orpington- 2 years old- if that info helps at all. Anyways- she super protective of the chicks, and unfortunately these particular ones are kind of flighty and freak out over little things- so she thinks I’m hurting them when they squeal and comes after me. I put them in a tractor during the day and at night they stay in a dog crate in the coop. They are 6+ weeks old. So I’m toting them back and forth a couple times a day and Marilyn gets me every time. So today I decide to try and befriend her once again and offered her treats and she fluffed up and jumped at me again. The more I try and get on her good side, and tame her the more she dislikes me haha. And no, she’s not broody, nor does she care about the chicks any other time- just when I’m holding them. One of my other lavenders is broody and she’s a sweetheart and gets all eagle chicken on me but lets me move her outside. Any ideas on how to not trigger Marilyn?? Lol maybe even become friends?

UPDATE- I found out from my kids that the neighbor boy has been teasing the chickens (he’s only 3 or 4) and pulling their tails and such… would this affect Marilyn’s behavior? I don’t think he is trying to be mean and may not know better… I’m pretty sure he has some special needs.

That could definitely teach an animal to hate humans.

Better talk to the kids' parents because the kid could either kill a chicken (accidentally or on purpose), or be injured by one that has HAD ENOUGH of what is perceived as a predator.
