My chicken yard has a moldy smell. What should I do. I am fairly new to having chickens. The chickens seem to be messy with their water.

Greetings from Kansas, marilyn2, and :welcome. Happy you joined us. If the grounds around where they drink or where you fill their waterers is always wet and gets stinky, you can rotate it to drier spots periodically. Another solution is perhaps putting down a layer of sand around the watering area. This will allow for less standing water and hopefully less smell. Here's an article from the Learning Center (brown tab above) that talks about dealing with a muddy run. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/how-to-fix-a-muddy-run-chicken-coop
Good luck to you and thanks for joining BYC! :)

Hi and welcome to BYC! You already got some great advice, so I just wanted to say thanks for joining us!

Hi and welcome to our community. Nipple drinkers are something that you may wish to consider - certainly make less mess.

Best wishes
