Does anyone have any suggestions on how to mark my baby chicks so that we can tell them apart.

Colored string around their ankles?
Permanent marker on one of their claws?

What do you think?

i had some easter egg color that i dabbed on the backs. i don't know if you could use food color too? i don't think it would hurt them.

Nail polish on the toenails. You have to reapply, it does wear off after a little while. You can also try zip-ties, but make sure not to put them on too tight, and check them often, those chicks grow fast, and you wouldn't want to lose a foot!

Chicken!

I am not sure who is the bigger geek, you for writing it, or me for deciphering it!

I take sharpies and color on the light colored chicks. Last about about a month. I paint the dark chicks legs with quick drying nail polish. Nail polish only lasts about a weak.

I've done the nontoxic sharpies on light colored chicks. It lasts a few weeks. I had a whole batch of btw japanese bantams with 2 colored wing feathers for 3 weeks.
