I just shared this to my thread, but decided to share it here also, because it was so sweet!

Do you have a story about an attentive rooster...feel free to share it here! 💞

I've been spending quite a bit of time with my chickens today and have seen some pretty funny behavior! My little EE Pearl has been a bit distressed for the last 30-45 minutes. I placed the little roost that I had for them when they were babies in the corner of the coop to discourage the hens from laying there again. One of the Welsummer girls decided just to lay an egg to the left of it...no big deal! Pearl has been going back and forth and in & out of the coop, panting all the while! Well a little bit ago, I discovered Marquis one of my FBCM roosters in the coop with her, following her around and checking out her nesting spot in the corner. I came back in the house & just went back out to find him in one of the nesting boxes, talking to her as she looked on, I think he was encouraging her to use it! She went back out of the coop with him by her side and she checked out different spots in the pen with him following her the whole time. A few minutes later she went back into the coop and finally hopped up into one of the boxes while he watched. It is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen from a chicken! They never cease to amaze me with their different personality traits! 💞

😂 That’s great I have a cockerel who tells me when there’s food on the ground that I might be interested in. Like someone playing in a play kitchen with a toddler, I’ll get down on his level and tell him thank You and pretend to eat it. He also is currently living with my broody who is caring for a single 3 week old chick. They moved in with him, and at first it freaked me out bc I thought he might hurt the chick.... but he is protecting them! It was pouring here the other day and when I suited up and went to check everyone, the three of them were up in their house and the chick was under the rooster. He is a bantam Cochin and the most docile roo I have ever had.

Aww, that so sweet! He sounds like an awesome pet! Would love to see a picture of him! Maybe I should change the title to make it more of a chat thread! 😊
