Hi , My name is Dave. My 11 year old daughter Moriah and i purchased 5 one day old sexed pullets in April. We had a wonderful time building a hen house and coop and loved watching our pullets grow. We have one red sex linked, one Buff Orp, one all white Aruchuna, one Leg horn and one Barred Rock.
Yesterday we FOUND our first eggs. They choose not to use the PERFECT nest boxes I had designed and had been laying for some time behind a bale of bedding we stored inside the coop. we found 9 white and 3 brown. So our leghorn was the first to get the job done.
We currently feed Blue Seal layer pellet, with some scratch grain and table scraps. They get a few hours each evening to free range in the yard to find crickets and eat grass.
