Massive Egg Why? + Guess how many yolks! (PICS)

Quote:
From what I've heard, it's not a good idea to try. Two competing embryos make for weak or nonviable chicks. And not to be a downer--but my experience with big eggs was always (eventually) a prolapsed uterus. I'm perfectly happy to see no more Supersize Me eggs. Is celebrating moderation an oxymoron?

We get a double Yolker about once a week from Flap Top (although not so much lately). Inquiring minds want to know, how many yokes were in there? I guess 3.

I got one just like that! Thinking about that day, there sure was alot of LOUD clucking when she laid it. . but surprise, only two yolks.

My RIR laid one about that size and I was sure it was at least a double, but nope, it was just one big yoke and a lot of white. What is up with that?

1 Rhode Island Red
1 Silver Laced Wiandotte
1 Americana
1 Buff Orpington
1 Giant Black Cochin

I figured it would be double... though I've had a lot of huge eggs with only one yolk... thanks for an awesome hilarious thread!

And I agree with some previous posters... someone PLEASE get that hen some comfort for her poor bottom... regular size eggs will be a breeze from this point forward for the poor girl!
