I have spent the past half hour trying to figure out how large I need to build our new coop in order to give our 15 hens 4 square feet each. I have dyscalculia so that makes it hard, I know it's a fairly simple math problem.

As others have said you need 60sq ft for 15 birds and there are a few different ways of achieving that depending on the space you have ...

5 x 12 = 60
6 x 10 = 60
7 x 9 = 63
8 x 8 = 64

These are all minimum sizes so if there is any chance you will add more chooks then make it bigger!
Thank you!

There is no need for chicken math. If you are planning only 15 chickens max, 6'x6' or larger coop will meet your need. However, you do need a large run. The chicken don't need a lot of space to sleep. I know many peoples plan the same thing with nesting box and half or more never being used.
