My cute little digital scale didn't arrive until the eggs were already in the bator, so I didn't want to unpack them all and mess up the heat etc.

I'm planning to candle and cull on day 7 and wondering if it's still worth the trouble to weigh them for air cell development.

I know they should lose 12-13% of their total weight, but if I weigh on day 7, should I look for future weight loss of 2/3 that percentage based on having 2/3 of the incubation time left?

Or should I even bother?

at least mark your air cell, that will help you see where the chick should pip. Good luck on the hatch!

I did have a chick that was pipping in the wrong spot. it was day 23 and it was not at the south end it was the middle. there was a little blood where it was pipping because it was below the air cell. The egg was really brittle at that point. I did hold my breath a bit but she is doing well now.
