Mating guinea

My one year old male mat d my 7 week old female today. Right out in front of everyone in the yard. It was not violent, she was very submissive and I concerned afterwards. I was shocked! He has acted as a momma to them since I released them about two weeks ago. He’s lead them everywhere, shows them where to eat, where to coop at night and has jsit been so sweet with them. So this was a double shock.

Isn’t this a little soon? Even though they make all the Guinea sounds and are about grown?
