Mating Question

Hello, new to chickens here! But I sure love them! One of my hens scares me when my roo mates her. She will continue to lay perfectly still a good 30 seconds, maybe longer afterwards. It's like she is paralyzed. Is this normal? She's a BO if that makes a difference. Thanks!!

Does stress effect egg laying?

Yes, and stress can affect your hens. Heat, cold, predation, new home, new chickens, diseases, parasites, anything. Mine quit laying for almost three months after a daytime fox attack, and that fox only killed laying hens too! It was a very bad year. Good food, good living conditions, and time for things to improve, and they will get going again. Mary
