Mating vs laying

I’ve seen my rooster mating my hens but they haven’t laid yet. Is there any concern there?

I think it means they are getting close to laying... I am hoping so.

The whole flock is 19-20 weeks old.

Is this the first time he's tried to mount them?
A good cockerel will not mate a bird that is not ready to lay, or already laying.
It can be rare, but it does happen.
It's one of the best signs that eggs are imminent.
