Mating

Look in Rooster red's sig line and click on the rooster behaviour link....... lots of good info there - you don't want the roo to be dominating YOU

Don't worry, prbably 10 seconds after you left the coop he was at it again.

Thats the right thing to do - you want him to understand you are the ALPHA roo in the coop - if he wants to get anything done, he needs to do it when you're not there.
Don't let him do it with you there or he'll think he is the king!

REALLY??? Good to know! When I let my chickens out in the morning my roo starts showing everyone he is boss as they walk out.

My guy does a bit of a dance, a cute little wing drag herding thing. Only one poor unsuspecting pullet didn't know what she was in for (my dd found her about 5 secs after the fact and thought she was DEAD.. not kidding.. the poor thing was huddled in a ball). Usually, though, the ladies know what to expect so squat.. then my roo grabs them by the back of the neck. Looks kinda rough to me, but they seem to be ok with it.

The entire process is pretty quick.
