my original flock has a year old rooster, who crows every morning and sometimes during the day. if he hears the rooster my neighbor has wayyy off in the distance they will have a "crow off" lol. i just got a few breeding trios and now have 3 new roosters. 2 are younger cockerels, and one is over a year. i have only had them a couple days, but i expected them to be crowing in the morning, especially after hearing my other rooster crow. NONE of the 3 have crowed! im not sure if this is because they are in a new place, or what. does anyone know why they arent crowing?

Two things come to mind. One, they are in new surroundings and may not yet feel secure enough to crow. Or two, they've already decided amongst themselves that your resident rooster is the alpha and the new roos don't want their butts kicked for crowing. I betcha once they are comfortable in their new home they'll blurt out a crow or two, even if they do decide it's best to do it when your alpha roo is otherwise occupied.

Where'd you get them. I'd like two just like them.

I culled all my cockerels last fall, some for type, others for aggression. They made a heck of a racket too. Got all the other neighborhood roos (mostly older) going to. Since I culled them all, it's been pretty quiet. Last Saturday morning was the first time I heard one of the neighbor's crow in months.

Oh you are so lucky, all mine do the crow off.
