Hi! Welcome to BYC! You certainly came to the right place to learn how to keep them safe. You can find a lot of information in the Articles tab above. Go there and you'll find a Learning Center. I would say, specifically, the first step in keeping them safe is building a secure coop and run, and it sounds like you are well on your way with the coop. Your coop is plenty big enough for your current order of chicks, and a few more.
