My loving sweet Max is growing up and it hurts. Today I was out gathering wood took a break as Max was by the wagon and I "assumed" he wanted his daily dose of neck or back scratch so I reach for him and he pecked me he gets this " I can stare you down " square off (and away we went). Off course mommy rules so Mad Max had to get a time out cuddle. Oh my is spring coming? My boys first spring! He doesn't want to be seen by Angel and Shelly as a mama's boy.

Speaking of Shelly - this is the second night in a row she has REFUSED to go in the coop with her flock. Then she stands outside and screams till dark. I use to chase her down and put her in, but since I broke my neck an am in a restrictive brace I have given up chasing her. She slept on top of the coop and this morning I found her trying to cuddle with her friends as close to the wire as she could get. HELP what should I do?

Any time max shows aggression pin him to the ground or hold him until he stops squirmin. Doing this will eventually make you the top dog and he shouldn't mess with you. As for the hen, does she have a clear path to the door? Also is she being bulllied by some other hens?

I hate to do that to Max but will do it. I petted him today without out the gloves on (I use them to gather wood), I will have to hold him - I understand why. As for shelly - no she is not being bullied. She doesn't want to go in when the others do - they get special millet just to go into their coop at night and believe me all my feathered children get the best food non GMO, NO Soy, also an organic scratch mixed in then to top it off they get fly larvae. They eat like kings and queens! Tonight I got her in after dark and I think she only went in because it was raining and he coop is nice and dry.

You were right poor Shelly is being bullied by her brother Herbert and then Angel. Please advise what I should do. I have another coop arriving in the next month, will that help?
