Hi so I have one turkey named Max he is almost a year old got him when he was 6 mos old. wondering can he live with my chickens (he is right now) I have heard that they can have heath issues when with chickens is this true? can they eat the same?

It is not a smart idea to keep a lone tom turkey with chickens. When breeding season comes around he will try to breed your chickens. The end result often is not good for the chickens.

If you are feeding your chickens layer feed it could be harmful to your turkey. The excess calcium can cause kidney issues in male poultry.

If blackhead is an issue where you live, keeping turkeys with chickens can be fatal for the turkeys. Chickens can be carriers of blackhead which can be deadly to turkeys.

Turkeys are social birds. A turkey should have other turkeys for companionship.
