Also, showing begins at 9am and will take most of the day. I think it was 2 or 3pm before they were announcing winners last time...

What time do they start letting you in to view & purchase birds? I MAY be able to come. I'm debating on coming there or going to Mtn. City to find me a turkey or two (and hopefully some chicks, even though DH doesn't know

).

The show starts at 9am, and all birds must be cooped in by then. I think the grounds open at 6am.
I'm going to try and get there at 6am so I can be in place to try and sell some of the chicks I don't want to show. (But I'll coop in my show birds Friday night so that I don't have to fool with it Saturday morning.)
I'd imagine the buying and selling will start as soon as someone sees something they want

I doubt dh will go for leaving here at 4 am

. Maybe 7 if I'm lucky.

There will be birds left, I'm sure!
That's just the earliest they could be available. The bulk of the folks won't get there until 9-10am.
So only the early-birds will get the best pickings.

Last year there was a gorgeous pair of blue & white polish for sale. I lusted after them but knew better than to even ask for a price. DH would've killed me. They stayed available until after lunch! But then some lucky soul walked away with them

I've only gotten one so far, there's been a hatching ban while we were building a coop, but I snuck a few eggs under a broody!

2/2 hatched but one did not make it

but the other is quite a looker!!! so far he/she has NO black or blue in his crest!

I'm expecting it to come in though
