I didn't do individual portraits, but here are some candid shots of the flock. The whole gang is there in the box while I change the pad and clean the waterer.

Then, back in the brooder you can see the variety of chick's. There are a couple that may be pure Cream Legbar, a lot that appear to be Rhode Island Red with Cream Legbar crosses, and some that are pure Rhode Island Red.

There is one cross that has an interesting light chipmunk pattern rather than dark. We are calling it Stripe for now. There is another one that has just a dark spot on its head. It's named Fluffy Flufferton-- a name picked from a show she watches called "Gabby's Dollhouse." They are both in the last photo, along with a couple of unnamed RIRs.

the incubator baby has the TINIEST little hairline zip starting! and one under Ditzy (my broody) has a pip!!

My 3 doz eggs (local) I got from my grocery store. All 36 are still developing two weeks in. I didn't have to pull 1.

The 2 to the far left to the front with no pencil marks on are on first week . They are from a diff local farm, and a diff store. (the farm washes their eggs, I knew this but gave them a chance.) those I set 8 but just these 2 are going.

Bowing out of May because I only moved Cordon to the maternity ward today so I probably won't set eggs under her until at least Wednesday (she's pacing around protesting being moved right now). That would put the hatch into early June.

Well my hatch is going well, almost done now. I had 5 hatch in the bator but I still have 2 pipped eggs remaining in there. The broodies hatched out around 5 also.

I gave 3 of my incubator chicks to the broodies and gave 2 to my sister in law’s broody who had a failed hatch. I am a bit sad to see all the chicks go out to the hens instead of raising them myself but I know it will be easier that way.

My 5th broody is still sitting on her eggs which are due on the 25th.

I think there might be two legbar pullets. I'm interested in seeing what the cross grows out to that has a light-colored pattern instead of dark like most of the other crosses.

That's kind of cool your grocery store sells colored eggs. Definitely not common.
