May 2022 hatch along

Pics
:pop It’s May 2nd! Are all your eggs in a Hatcher? Are you keeping your breeds in separate trays?
150 are in the hatcher. in separate trays. I just got home and there might be at least 100 out so far, I'll count them as I take the first group out in the morning. I need to move chicks out of the brooder house to the grow out house so I have room for this days hatch. I'm a little behind as it has been so windy I did not get a chance to replace one of the barns roofs until yesterday and Today I headed to town to get a riding mower and was gone all day, though it has rained all day. 1.3 inches so far.

Day 5. I see veining in #7 and #8 which are the easiest to see into and I think I might see some in #5 but I’m not certain. I just did a quick check with my phone today and didn’t take the big flashlight down so I couldn’t see much.
Day 6-7 hopefully you will be able to see a lot. Here are two of mine on day 6 just for reference in case it helps!

Curious what your sex ratios turn out to be. I know boy embryos are supposedly a bit more sensitive to cold, but as you said, it may have just been that extra start that helped the others tank it.
You know it’s funny that you say that! I was just saying this same thing to my husband last night! All of my shipped eggs have resulted in very low hatch rates but if my guesses are correct—all that did hatch are girls but one! I have had a tough time getting the incubator to run lower than 100.3 consistently so I just decided consistency was better than trying for optimal and being all over the place. After the incubator cooled I plugged it back in and it spiked to 101…so it will be really interesting to see what I get! I just found it amazing that I got so many girls…all different breeds too. Polish, d’Uccles, bantam EEs, d’Anvers, and a bantam buff Brahma. Time will tell 😆 but I will try to remember to report back!

So, I have a question about the "Days to Hatch" countdown on the NR 360. I started the eggs at about 8:00 pm on April 15th. I reset the counter to 21 days at that point (I thought?). This morning I checked the counters and it said "3" days remaining... I'm confused about the countdown now. When I do the count manually, day 18 should start after 8:00 tonight. I guess I misunderstood something. Based on the Govee thermometer the incubator went into lockdown just after 8:00 pm yesterday. Is hatch day the day the counter hits Zero?

Asked another way, when should eggs started in the evening of April 15th hatch? I was planning on the weekend, so my granddaughter could be here. I had figured that they would be starting late Friday, but that's not what the incubator is saying. Did I blow it in my hatch planning?

Hmm, I am constantly forgetting how the incubator timer works 😆 I have an app I use to track how many days are left and when to candle what.

I can say that I have bantam eggs set on April 13 that are starting to pip today on Day 20. So if yours are LF eggs they *should* hatch/pip on Friday, which would be your Day 21. I think you should be okay? Day 0 would be hatch day!

Lockdown for you is today. They should start pipping on Thursday and hatching on Friday if your temperatures are right on target. One might hatch on Thursday, there is always an early bird.
You don't have to set by the hour. You can put them into lockdown by stopping turning them now. You can up your humidity to 55-60%, and then just hover over the incubator for the next 4 days, lol. Expect to get nothing done.. lol. :lau:gig:lau
