The broody wouldn’t get off the nest today so I’ve had to force her off to eat and drink. I offered her food and water while on the nest but it just got me bit. Really hope she doesn’t keep this up for the next 12 days.

My daughter is stuck in Fort Worth traffic! Just had number 13 hatch... Six more to go, but I can't tell if they're even pipped. There's so much chick traffic inside the incubator that I can barely see the last eggs. Once granddaughter arrives, we will probably move some of the chicks to the brooder. That will allow them a little more space and will also give some space for the newly hatched and (hopefully) continuing to hatch.

So far, all the chicks have been very aggressive when zipping. Once they start they are done in a very few minute! Here's one that was zipping. Within 3 minutes of this photo, she was out of the shell.

Once the second egg hatched it stayed about 70-75%. We finally had a slow zip, but she has what looks like an umbilical hernia. I pulled her out to see if it was a prolapse vent, wasn't. Put some antibiotic cream on it. Don't know if she'll make it.

They can be such grumps!! My usual sweet little Polly Pocket is a mean little momma hen! She fluffs up and growls and pecks me hard! She’s like the nicest and least assuming chicken I have normally

Oh yay!! It’s such a neat thing to watch them hatch, I’m glad she got to see it! And now gets to hold cute little fluff balls!!

So my broody Cochins that snuck eggs got their first baby last night! I had sort of forgotten that my hen Elinor is lavender laced, so when I saw a lavender baby I was SO confused haha. I have two lavender roosters but all my other hens are BBS or mauve splash, so I figured I’d get a bunch of black and blue chicks! Elinor is this quiet and unassuming hen and I didn’t recall seeing her eggs in the nest! I am just in love with the baby already, it’s sooo soft and adorable!!
