I want to see them!!! Post pics Aran!!! I am a strong believer in "everything happens for a reason". Those birds are MEANT to be with you. People can be really stupid, but hey...you got yourself 2 new beautiful girls that will be very happy with you. Someone else's loss is your gain.

I wonder if many chickens are abandoned because people didn't know what to do with them after their chicks got big-like Easter chicks or classroom hatches.

im thinking that maybe these belonged to someone in the burbs who wasnt supposed to have them...they seem to have been loved, hand fed etc. They are big and healthy and cool! And now they have 5.5acres and a HUGE run to enjoy til there natural days are over. My son is over the moon. My wife and I are stoked too. I really hope to have pics up soon...my coop and run are a lot like yours southern...cept you have a bigger enclosure..mine is 40x30 or there abouts.
