And an update!

Just candled (day 10), and all 13 of my eggs are showing good veins, good embryonic development, and some irate squirming to protest the light being turned on.

And back to turning without peeking for another week...

Yep! I'm going to be very amused if I get 13 little chicks. They'd be the Demonic gang. I originally ordered the eggs on Friday the 13th of April... and had all kinds of trouble with getting them.

First the seller's hens didn't produce enough, and shipment got delayed.
Then the seller sent my eggs to a previous buyer, instead of me.
More delay waiting for the hens to lay more eggs...
Finally got my eggs, on April 30th.

yep, they are so cute when they are running up to you to, waddle waddle. I have geese so I still get the waddle just in bigger form. lol

Sorry everyone, I am back for awhile this web site wouldn't let me post anything and I wasn't getting and notifications.
I hope the hatches are going will.
I am reading through the thread again to play catch up.

I have been dating my Guinea eggs and slipping them under my 3 silkies they are now sitting on about 20 eggs.

Today my Guinea laid 3 eggs in the nest box I keep wondering if this means she will go broody?

Some are finicky but mild mannered and don't like to be bothered, they will leave the nest rather then fight. As long add she's going back with in 30min to a hour i wouldn't worry to much. They often take at least a 30min break for food and water anyways. Taking 2 or 3 breaks can be healthier for the hen then just 1 break a day that most do. If its really warm some may even take longer then a hour at a time. As long as she is still returning to the nest everyday you should be fine. She might not be the best broody right now but she will learn add she goes

I'm going to join in the hatch along. I had 14 eggs hatch on 5/3 and have eggs in the incubator again now, due to hatch 5-31 and duck eggs in another bator due 6-6-18. This is my like 7th time hatching chicken eggs, but my first time with duck eggs, so I'm alittle concerns about thay

Have you found with your geese that they're good guardians for your chickens?

If they are raised together they can be somewhat protective, but, I sadly discovered, that if they aren't used to chickens they can be very aggressive.
I started with a pair of Pilgrim geese, had them for 2 years, lost my gander.Found a new adult pair of pilgrim geese a few months later. Now, the original duo did fine with the ducks and the goose by herself was with the chicks from 2 months up. I got the new duo and the goose that came with this duo got steady more aggressive to the chickens, eventually killing 2 and almost killing 2 others before I was able to separate them.
So, I wouldn't really use them for protection really.

Long weekend. Trying to get some of the feild mowed down this morning. My husband had to fix all 3 mowers, little fixes but still. My oldest has a dance preformance this afternoon. Ny time I get back home it will be time for dinner. Eggs go on lock down tonight then to school on Monday. Should be fun...
