Okay so I have a broody duck sitting on 13 some eggs. I also have ducks laying that are not fertile. I gather those eggs in morning. Two days after gathering, they was sitting in my counter top and thought to candle them to be sure. One of them happen to be fertile with very healthy veins. I have one problem tho it has a hair line crack it's not oozing or leaking fluid. Im also not finding the embryo?? Im gonna incubate it and hope for the best but just wondering about the veins and no embryo???

You can use candle wax to "repair" (strengthen) the crack. Warming the egg in the incubator with a crack could cause it to leak.

You may have seen the charts showing the development of duck eggs. I'll attach one... egg development.jpg

You can have active veins and not see the embryo because it is actually sitting deeply in the egg and not right near the shell. I almost threw out three eggs of my last hatch as quitters because of it. Usually after it gets rotated a little more and the embryo gets bigger you will be able too see it better.

Thankyou for posting this, that’s the most detailed picture I’ve seen showing the different stages! I’ve screen shot it to keep for reference, I hope that’s okay? We are first time Hatcher’s on day 4 🤞🏼
