Bright light activates chicks and they get rowdy. Darkness or semi-darkness serves to calm them down tremendously. Low light conditions keeps them calm. When you need to calm chicks, or adults for that matter, just make their environment semi dark or dark. They go pretty still.
 
We raise chicks differently than most do here, so with that said...

Put them outside, they will be fine. If you are worried, put a small box on it's side with shavings in the bottom that they can all huddle together in if they need to. 55 degrees is REALLY warm under fluff, let alone feathers. They will feather out very quickly if they need to.
