Does anyone have experience with feed from McGeary Organics, Inc?
I have given up on finding any organic feeds locally...so I guess I will have to have it shipped in. McGeary Organics seems to have the best prices so far. Plus I like the fact that their feeds are "made to order once a week"

Their Chick Starter info is:
Ingredients: Corn*, Mechanically Extracted Soybean Meal*, Kelp*, Dried Lactobacillus Fermentation Product, Dried B. Subtillus Fermentation Product, Yeast Culture, DL-Methionine, Vitamin A Supplement, AD3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Folic Acid, Choline Chloride, Pyrodoxin Hydrochloride, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Niacin, Vitamin K Supplement, Salt, Potassium Magnesium Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Selenium, Cobalt Carbonate, Calcium Iodate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Lime
(*Certified Organic Feed Products)

Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein (Min) 20%, Lysine (Min) 1%, Methionine (Min) .3%, Crude Fat (Min) 3%, Cruder Fiber (Max) 4%, Calcium (Min) .9% (Max) 1.3%, Phosphorus (Min) .5%, Salt (Min) .4% (Max) .6%

And the Layer Feed info is:
Ingredients: Corn*, Mechanically Extracted Soybean Meal*, Wheat*, Wheat Middlings*, Kelp*, Dried Lactobacillus Fermentation Product, Dried B. Subtillus Fermentation Product, Yeast Culture, DL-Methionine, Vitamin A Supplement, AD3 Supplement, Vitamin E Supplement, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Calcium Pantothenate, Biotin, Folic Acid, Choline Chloride, Pyrodoxin Hydrochloride, Vitamin Vitamin B12 Supplement, Niacin, Vitamin K Supplement, Salt, Potassium Magnesium Sulfate, Manganese Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Selenium, Cobalt Carbonate, Calcium Iodate, Dicalcium Phosphate, Lime
(*Certified Organic Feed Products)

Guaranteed Analysis: Crude Protein (Min) 16.%, Lysine (Min) .7%, Methionine (Min) .25%, Crude Fat (Min) 2.5%, Cruder Fiber (Max) 4%, Calcium (Min) 4% (Max) 5%, Phosphorus (Min) .5%, Salt (Min) .3% (Max) .5%

They have a Layer Developer (aka Grower) and feeds for Broilers as well, but I didn't want to get too lengthy

Any thoughts or opinions?

Very interesting. I missed them entirely in my search. Thanks!
What is the importance of soy-free? One of my dogs & myself can't eat anything with soy due to allergies, but I am curious about its effect on chickens.

i have been using countrysidenatural for my 3 RIR hens since they were chicks and got a comment that the eggs were real clean and rich looking so guess i will keep using them, but the shipping of a 50lb bag is high but i keep buying from them

What are people paying per bag plus shipping?

If you can order a pallet and have a tax ID number, you can get it wholesale at $15/50lb bag. Storage of that much, however, can be tricky. If several people go in on it, it may work better.

I just thought the idea of feeding chickens a completely vegetarian feed didn't make sense. So when I came across Countryside Naturals (the only nonsoy feed I'd found), I decided to try it.

I bought a bag of their chick starter and as soon as my chicks started eating it, the "bird smell" disappeared from our bird room (I was still keeping them indoors at night time in their brooder). I also noticed their poops seemed smaller, so it seemed like the food was more digestible.

I just bought a 50 lb bag of their (sorry) "broiler" feed for young chickens. It's a coarser grind than the chick starter, but still not pelleted. I plan to buy their layer feed when the time comes, too.

Just placed my order. One bag for the chicks and one bag for the older girls. Here's to a less smelly brooder!!!
