I don't know about MM but Meyer will let you order fewer than their minimum once the warmer weather arrives. But they also told me in order to get just 6 chicks, shipping alone would be $43. Thanks to a local woman on here, we are going in on an order together at a local store. The chicks will be coming from MM. I really like the look of the EE's, the ones with brown and black are gorgeous! So I think I may get 3 Red Star and 2 or 3 EE's!I didn't know McMurray would do that. IF so I think they throw a bunch of rooster chicks in to fill the box and charge you an extra fee. Maybe someone who has done this can chime in. If you have any feed stores around that sell live chicks....sometimes they will let you order your with their order since they are getting hundreds. You'll have to pay their mark-up, but it may be less than the small order charges from the hatchery.
