McMurray hatchery ‘Ameraucanas’

No they’re not bred to the SOP. McMurray has had a flock of Ameracaunas since before the breed was accepted by the APA, so they have non standard colors and such. I kind of think it it like Border Collies vs farm collies in the UK. They look similar, but only the Border Collie can be entered into Crufts.

An unusual and sensational breed, the Americana chicken or Ameraucana, is an exceptional breed to think about for your yard flock-- that is if you're able to find chicks for sale!

At one time, people believed that blue eggs had more protein and less cholesterol than other eggs' colors. While this has actually been revealed to be inaccurate, the eggs are captivating to have a look at!

They tend to lay well throughout the cold months of the year (including those with limited amounts of daytime). Providing your Ameraucana chicken with regular treats can help in encouraging winter season laying, too.

I have an order placed with McMurray Hatchery for June 7th and out of the 23 chicks, 4 are ‘ameraucana’ hens and 1 is an ‘ameraucana’ rooster. I’ve heard a lot of mixed opinions on this topic, but I was wondering if anyone has experience with McMurrays ameraucanas and if their birds are true ameraucanas or if they’re Easter Eggers. I don’t care either way, but I was just wondering. Even if you don’t have experience with them, does anyone know how you tell the difference between ameraucanas and EE’s. Thank you for any help, it’s greatly appreciated.

Some one from the ApA Ameraucana Club was flaming at me on Facebook screaming that only Cackle and select breeders are selling true Ameraucana, and MCMURRAY is selling crap.

I thank that some one needs to take a chill pill.

I hope they are true. I just got mine.

Does she have other chicks?
Yes she has about 30 isas. She sells the eggs and then she has some other chickens just for pets. She has five buff orpingtons. One is her rooster. He's super good with the females and none of them are injured from mating. He's super protective though and will go after people. Lol. Then she has a black sexlink, a black austrolorpe (do they come in anything but black?) a silver laced wyandotte. And now she has a tophat, ameraucana and brown leghorn I just gifted her.
