Just got my latest order from McMurray Hatchery, and once again, got a box filled with beautiful healthy live chicks! The order was filled perfectly with a variety of breeds. Of course, we'll have to wait a month or so to be sure they're all the pullets I ordered, but last year the sexing was 100% accurate.

My McMurray chicks are great as well. They're about 7 weeks old now and only 1 maybe 2 of them appear to be roos (out of 5 straight run chicks). All of my ordered pullets look like pullets. I would definately order from them again. Enjoy your fuzzy butts. What kind did you get?

I got heavy production-breed pullets, RIR, BR, Speckled Sussex, Americana, Delaware, Buff Orp, & Partridge Rock. Each summer I get 30 chicks to raise up and show & sell at our county fair in January. There are a LOT of folks who come there looking to buy laying hens. Plus, they usually all win blue ribbons, even some trophies, and premiums for those. Last year a lot of folks were asking for Polish hens so I got some Gold- and Silver-Laced Polish pullets.

In the last photo, in the lower left, you can see the "free exotic chick" MMH sent. He's standing up tall and looking over his shoulder at the camera. I can't tell what he is, maybe a Silver Leghorn.

MMH seems to have changed the way they ship to my address, usually I get them on a Tues at a different Post Office. I was surprised to hear the message on my answering machine when I got home from church yesterday, and to pick them up at a different place. I think they came faster this way, many of them still have their egg tooth.

This morning they're all still as happy & healthy as ever! I took these photos last night. Since I wasn't expecting them so soon I didn't have straw ready for their bedding. I used sand from the kids' sandbox, it seems to be working well. The chicks have even been playing with the little toy soldiers that got dumped in accidentally, grabbing them & playing keep-away with them. My kids think that's really funny!

MMH did very well for us last year. . . all 36 of ours are still with us and thriving, and broody, sheesh! Next time we make an order, I'll be saying "no" to the free exotic. We got a silver Lakenvelder roo, and while he's an okay looking roo (I laugh at his huge swinging wattles), he is a devil!

I love that dark one n the last pic with the white butt...too darn cute...all of them...MM did great by me recently wit my gosling and duckling order...I got 8 Toulouse goslings and 4 Cayuga females...all healthy and thriving...got them over night...I have always been very happy with MM...I got my first order from them sometime in 1986...

Thanks, I noticed that BR's little white fluffy butt too, they're so cute now! Since I'm taking them to the Fair I don't mind having an extra roo I should be able to show & sell there. Last year I got a Golden-laced Polish cockerel, he grew up to be really good-looking. And he won a trophy for Best Cockerel in the Youth division too!
