McMurray's New Shipping Practices...has anyone heard about this?

This is a much older post, but I wouldn't worry either. I would go to my local post office and talk with someone there about things. Myself I live close enough to the airport and the post office's hub there that I'd drive there, but I would need to call first and find out shipment times and such so I could basically go get them right off the plane. Out in the country where I live, our post office delivers large things to our doors after hours. We usually get the tired old man who'd rather lay on the horn and leave the package on the lawn, but hey he didn't have to deliver it either.

I've been looking into making my very first online order and this thread worried me at first, but I'm not worried now. I'll just go to the airport and get the babies there now.

fyi, I ordered from McMurray this year, ordered 28 chicks, got 6 extra, all got here alive, one was spraddle legged and later died, another died this week, I think he aspirated food. All the rest look great and are growing like gangbusters, even the bantams. I probably wont order from a hatchery again except for meat birds though, too nerve wracking and I only did this (6th time ordering from McMurray) because I needed to rebuild a laying flock of different types.

SO FAR 4 Da last 4 years I have the best service form them and only end up with a lost of 3-4 chicks with in the 1st 3 days out of 50 + chicks ----I think they rate is best so far 4 me.... I order this year from 2 other hatchery beside Murry and all I have to say is out of 50+ chicks from the other two hatchery I end up with a lost of about 10 chicks each from the others and still only about 3 lostest from Mc murry .................. I purchase 50 + chicks ( both chickens and turkeys from each ) which where keep in diffent brookers

I think I'll stick with Murry Mc Murry next year for all my birds

My chicks came this morning and all 26 are healthy! None had pasty butt and were running around as soon as i putt them in their brooder. The exotic was a silver laced polish. I will post pictures tonight!

I wanted a couple hatchery chickens just for laying purposes and free range, and got them in the mail TODAY, a WEDNESDAY.

15 were DOA, depressing, looks like I will lose two overnight. I called and the service people were nice (got from MMH) but I feel terrible about the little lives lost.
