Hey friends.. I’m back.. I swear it’s been one girl after another. My Cream LegBar Magnolia isn’t well. I noticed a few days ago she hasn’t been her usual sassy self. She has been more timid around other girls and myself. She is 1.5 years old. It has been cold here and much darker with time change. I’ve seen her drink but not eat much. She ate a bit of corn I tempted her with last night. She used to always be first one down in morninf to eat and now she is the last. I work so I haven’t been able to monitor her much today but my neighbor said she was fluffed up and laying around most of day. It was snowing and cold. They are in a very comfy run. Wind wouldn’t be issue. She isn’t laying right now.. but neither are my other girls. She isn’t molting as far as I can tell. She is pooping.. sometimes diarrhea but other times normal. It was green last night but they freerange all day. No mites, not egg bound. I don’t see worms in poop. I do have wormer (goat paste) but I worry about making her worse if already sick. Crop is empty at bedtime and I can tell she is thin? Any recommendations? Comb is red and floppy but always floppy… ?? Worried about my little sassy CLB! 🙏🏻♥️

Photos? Hen and poop?

Can you check her over to see if she is molting?

How many birds to how much space do you have? Sq ft of coop and run?

What are you feeding, including treats?

If she's not molting, then possibly she's having a hard time passing an egg. I'd work on hydration, get some extra calcium into her too. 1 Calcium Citrate with D3 daily, just pop the tablet right into the beak and let her swallow it.

Once she's drinking well on her own and hydrated, then offer some feed, this can be her normal dry feed or wetted feed. A bit of egg to add interest and entice her.

I’ll give her come calcium right now! I can wake her for that. Calcium in! Here are a few pics of her.. woke her up. Fresh poop too ;) My girls free range all day.. run is at least 18’x18’ for 7 girls. Thank you! They eat layer feed and have grit and calcium if needed always. I have wet and dry food available daily. They do get meal worms and scratch lately because it’s been so cold daily. My head hen does peck her wing area sometimes… she used to be higher in pecking order but I’ve recently seen that change.

Have you tried isolating her in a warm, dark place, with pediolyte to drink and a layer pellet omelet to eat. This worked wonders for my girl when she was torn up by a possum. I don't know why your Girl is feeling poorly. But I would give her time to rest and heal, with healthy food and drink for a little while and see if it helps.
Hopefully you can figure out the problem in the meantime.
Our egg pellet omelet is : 1 egg, scrambled with a small amount of heavy cream, placed in a pan with a small amount of olive oil or butter and sprinkled with layer pellets. Cook and flip like an omelet, let cool to room temp and feed.
I hope I helped in some small way. And I hope you find the problem and are able to fix it.
Please include any information that you think might help, no matter how small or silly, to help others to help you.
Where are you located, weather and such can play a role in diagnosis and healing.
Keep us up to date with any changes and how she is doing in general.

Thank you! I appreciate the advice ♥️ I
live in California but the mountains so we’ve had a cold spell for sure.. high 29F at night… 30-50 (depending on day) during the day. That is probably not helping.

When was the last time you wormed Magnolia with the paste? Did you inspect her closely for external parasites?
Checked her vent area and didn’t see anything. I typically don’t work unless I see them so for Magnolia she hasn’t been wormed at all or maybe last year I worked them all… been a while though. Is it safe to work her at this point if she isn’t eating and feeling yucky?

I’m going to seperated her today for a while too with a yummy treat just for her. 🥰

Green diarrhea can also result from a bacterial infection like Pasteurella, which thrives in colder seasons. Are there any rodents or other animals entering the coop? You might want to isolate her in a warm, dry place to prevent transmission.

Off-topic: what an amazing coop!
