Hi my name is Becky! I live in Florida. I purchased 4 baby chicks from my local Tractor Supply almost 2 years ago. (I suspect their date of birth is March 7, 2023.) I have 2 Golden Sex-linked hens and 2 Lavender Orpingtons hens. I love my four girls! The Goldens are Scarlet and Marilyn. And the Orpingtons are Laverne and Shirley. I get almost 2 dozen eggs a week from these hens.

These chickens have been a lot of fun to raise and learn about! My children and grandchildren enjoy visiting them when they come to my house and they love to take home some eggs, too! I live in a regular neighborhood on a quarter of an acre lot with my house in the middle. Neighbors up and down my street. My fenced in backyard isn't that big, but big enough for them to explore when they are outside their run. They really are "backyard" chickens. I've tried successfully different ways to keep them cool in the horrible heat of the summer here in central Florida. Winters here aren't that cold and they enjoy the cooler weather.

I am still learning about caring for them and I find this forum full of really helpful information! I look forward to learning more from the members and experts here.
