Me or the breeder?

So I had been on the search for some tolbunt polish hatching eggs for awhile. I could only ever find shipped eggs and to be honest I am a bit fearful of shipped eggs. I finally found some semi close(2 hrs drive one way) and my husband just so happened to be headed to the general area these eggs were for work. Lady i spoke with said she had literally just hatched 7/8 eggs. Decided to take the gamble.... So a couple weeks ago my husband made the drive, did his work for the day and then met up with the people selling the eggs to get the eggs and made the drive back home. I let the eggs sit for 24 hrs before incubating. Let my incubator run the entire 24 hours to get a steady temp/humidity. I have the NR360 and have hatched plenty of my own eggs with this particular incubator with no issues.

I personally don't candle my eggs during the incubation period. I did the first couple times i ever hatched and my hatch rate wasn't so good even though my eggs looked great. Once I stopped candling my hatch rate rose.

Well fast forward to yesterday, 2 eggs hatch. No others were pipped. Waited and looked again this morning. Still no new pips. I decided to candle just to see if I could see any movement and egg after egg after egg nothing. (See photos) only two other eggs started forming anything but stopped VERY early. So my hatch rate was 2/12. I'm super disappointed.

I'm not a new hatcher but this is the first time I have had an issue with eggs from someone else.... is it safe to say the issue isn't me? I haven't reached out to the seller YET, just wanted a second or third opinion before doing so.

Some of those don't look fertile to me, maybe they quit early or where never fertile.

They definitely didn't look fertile in person which is why I busted them open and pointed out the only sort of formations that were there.


I ended up reaching out to the seller and she said she has had a repeated 100% fertility with some not making it to hatch. I wasn't expecting 100% but was expecting better than 2/12 or even 4/12 if counting the two that formed but died off early.

Have NEVER had an issue like this come up and I am not a complainer so
