Meal Worm Encounter

I bought some meal worms at the pet store today and brought them home. I planned on giving my almost 5 week olds some treats.
OMG - they went haywire, I went through the entire container and they wanted more!!! Just thought I would share!

Yep, you will get tired of feeding them worms before they get their fill. It's not a good idea to overfeed them because they won't eat as much of their regular feed thats got everything they need. It can unbalance their diet. BTW if you thought they went crazy over the worms try some crickets. It's a blast.

I know what you mean. My Red Stars are quick and gets almost every one. Want to try the cricket thing - I hear its a hoot watching them trying to catch them.

Yes, they will go thru 25 worms in no time.

We got a container with 50 mealworms in it, day 3, they were all gone except 3- that we're planning on breeding!

I have decided that I am going to rear them also!! I have several already in the beetle stage.

You may want to reconsider breeding only 3 mealworms. What if they're all male or female? And a few always die. I'd get another 50 and let at least 20 progress to beetles for breeding. Good luck!​
