Ok, I want too farm meal worms but was wondering on how to start. And if anyone can answer the questions below that would be great?
1. Can I feed them scraps from the kitchen?
2. Can I use fine sawdust for the bedding 3. What setup do I need?

Thanks!

I started my mealworm farm a little over 6 mos ago & it’s beyond thriving! I ordered about a dozen plastic stackable drawers to house them in and use wheat bran for their substrate. I ordered about a bag of live mealworms from Amazon and as some changed to pupa I put those in a separate container to morph into beetles. The beetles then go into their own drawer. Every 3-4 weeks I pull the beetles and put them into a fresh/clean wheat bran drawer and take their old one and place it next in line to wait for eggs to hatch & worms to grow. I give them all baby carrots for their water/extra food source. My chickens LOVE getting live/fresh mealworms & my compost loves the used substrate after the worms have all become chicken food.

How do you get the beetles in a different drawer? Just pick them up one by one?
