So I bought #400 of mash from the local feed mill as per usual and while I didn't notice any movement when I put the bags into their cans yesterday I did notice some beetles and maybe some weevils in the feed. In all three cans. I'd not say there is more bug than feed but there are quite a few. If you look you can see some adult beetles are ground up too. Almost looks like seeds if you don't pay attention.
Thoughts on how to go about this? Just hit it with DE and feed anyway and complain next time around? I mean, chickens eat bugs and all. I know that having it in the feed will deplete the nutritional value a but but these guys will eat this feed up fairly quickly. Not like I can put it back in the sacks anyway...lol.
I suppose some people would be angered but I have been using this mill for a few years now and have never had an issue and I know stuff happens. And while I was dumping the feed in the bins (55 gallon drum) I didn't notice any wet or moldy feed.
Anyway, input would be much appreciated.
PS: I did search the topic but it had seen very mixed opinions on the subject on the few threads I could find. Maybe that will be the case today as well but I just thought I would ask.
Thanks
