The beetles live 3-5 months and start laying eggs very soon after they become beetles. So the eggs and babies are in there but you dont see them for about a month or so because they are sooooooooo tiny. But dont worry, all of a sudden one day, you will see millions of wiggling squirming little pieces of wheat bran or oats or whatever you are using. Once you see that, take a small spoonful out and put it on a paper plate. Then you will see just how tiny they really are. It is so much fun.

Bazillion, I think I have 1/2 that now. I put 7-8 carrots in WHOLE yesterday.... there only was only 4 little nubs today. I moved the beetles and a few worms into a new bin. Moved some pupae to another and tomorrow I will try to divide the worms into two more bins. Finally I think I have a good colony going!
Yep.....1/2 a bazillion counts as a good start to me!!!!! LOL!!!Whoa! Nice!

No wonder they eat so much! So what bins should be on the incubator? The babies?
BTW I used a colander and a spoon... took maybe 3 hoursso far. I still have to drill holes and divvy up the worms in other bin. And go buy a case of carrots
