I took 165 Beetles from the Pupae Drawer, that is since last night

I think there were already about 100 beetles from the last 2 days. All the rest are Pupae at this point and i have a little cup of worms in the refrigerator so that i have a constant cycle of them. Right now just letting the beetles hatch and giving them long enough to start laying and the eggs starting to hatch before I turn out the worms again. The worms are large and I assume they would pupate within a week..Very Exciting stuff

I took a few worms out to my black polish mix roo and his lady and their chick (which is really a buff orpington chick). Onyx, the roo, was the perfect gentleman. Frijole, the hen, took the first worm and ran. The chick ran from me when Frijole bawked, so I gave the next worm to Onyx. He took it, dropped it and clucked for the chick who snatched up the worm and ran. Each time I gave Onyx a worm, he dropped it and called to the others to come and get it. What a sweetheart! Wish I had taken a camera with me.

Here are some shots of my sweet boy and his girls loving the mealies. He LOVES

taking mealworms out to the girls and they of course love him.

The first girl always in line is Piglet, then Boss Foss and finally Big Sista. These three will always jump for him. For a boy who struggles daily with impulse control having to move slowly and patiently is so awesome. He has stated that the chickens make him feel calm and peaceful inside. I never say no to the mealworms. Makes a mom's heart feel so good to see such joy!
