Mealworm farming

If you mean waxmoth larva type wax worm, old beehives draw them like flies.

The grown beetles haven't bitten me, and I've been moving them from bin to bin before I gave up and just let them take over both.

No, the beetles don't bite

Try doing a search for the waxworms.... we're all about the mealworms here. Sometimes information is just a posted thread away! Just post the question on the main tread and I bet there are people who know. It's information I'd be interested in too.

I put a reptile heat rope under my mealie aquariums. They were somewhat stagnant. Not now! They are moving like crazy. All of the pupae are transforming at once. The beetles are having a party. I put a thermometer in the tank. What a difference 10 degrees makes.

Thanks guys. Glad they don't bite, I think I might start mealie farming, considering I've got 2 hungry geckos, 2 hungry hedgehogs, and 12 gluttonous hens who'd love to get their hands on some

the hedgehog bath video...especially the end. While watching the photo slideshow, I wondered if you had a professional photographer take those shots!!! Then I read your website. Very nice!

Sounds great!
DD gave some of the bins some kind of Mexican potato yesterday and commented that the beetles are more active than the worms. She said the beetles came in droves to the stuff she put in while none of the worms showed up to partake.

I think beetles can stand it a bit cooler than the wormies. My house is 62 this morning. A bit chilly for them but I really am tired of paying a big power bill.
