Mealworm farming

Yes, milo is a round, brownish to tan seed. It has a nuttier flavor than pop corn. Really good and no kernels to get stuck in your teeth!

after reading all Two Hundred Fifty One pages of this I went and bought meal worms today. got them set up in their bin with a reptile heat mat, a couple of slices of apple, and a thermometer with high and low for the last 24 hrs so I can track the temp.

I just want y'all to know that when my hubby gets home at the end of the month, and says

I'm pointing at you all.

My ExoticNutrition bin is so over run with mealies it looks like they are about to sit up and talk. Sometimes cool, sometimes eerie but loads of fun.
I take a large handful out to a different pen or brooder every day and of course, my house d'Uccles get some every day. The chickens all go nuts over since this time of year there just isn't much for them to find. The Guineas still stand back and wait for me to put them in their feeder but the ducks are appreciative and muddy up my hands pretty good.

I figure after Christmas I will sell a good many more but for now am not pushing to sell anything and letting my 6 other bins grow. We are up to 9 large tubs of meal worms, all in different growth stages. DH is really enjoying it and "farms" them every day. He is starting to get on my nerves about when I need to offer more food, do they have enough bran, are they warm enough, yadda, yadda!
