Mealworms for 7 week old chicks?

Hi everyone,
I gave my 7 week old chicks their first dried mealworms treats 2 days ago. They have been having grit since 5 weeks because i was concerned about them digesting grass. Is it okay to give mealworms sparingly at this age? I’m reading mixed things about treats. Thanks

Yes, mine chow down on cockroaches they catch in the brooder as early as 5 days old.

Yep, mealworms are a healthy snack! Just give them only a tablespoon or less per day per chick. Mealworms are super high in both protein and fat (roughly 50%) protein and can make birds fat! Make sure they've had a few nibbles of chick grit, but also watch them the first time that they have the grit that they don't get too excited and chow down on it! They really only need a few good pieces in their crop to help grind down food.
