Does anyone know where I can get mealworms in Australia? Do they usually sell them at pet stores? I've tried looking online at a few stores in the nearest major town to us (we don't have a petshop here), and can't seem to find anything. I thought theyd make a nice treat for my chookies.

Do you have a pet barn near you because they stock meal worms. They put some near the reptile section and then store the rest in the freezer but the ones in the freezer are alive, and as soon as they are taken out and warm up they 'wake from the dead' ^.^ do you live on the coast, because I purchase my meal worms from pet barn nerang (their always loaded with little critters)

There is one over an hour away from me, but close by my best friends house. I couldn't see any worms on their website, but if I'm up that way I'll have a look.
How much do you usually pay for them?

If I remember right it was something like 8-12$ they are quite dear, but your chooks will never leave your side ;)

Thats fine! I'm trying to con my chooks into liking me a bit more! Just looking at that link you sent me, by the time I pay for postage and handling it will be quite dear, so I'll try the other place near my friend first. I would have thought that city farmers shops would have them, but they seen to carry mostly dog/cat goods.

Yea their a real hastle to get over here, so you may as well breed your own once you have a few. in case you didnt see my other post it wrote
*No one would give away a pair of free Araucana hens so they are most likely roos. The bottom one is a definate rooster because of the saddle feathers. (The feathers that fall sideways at the base of the tail) if the other has the same saddle feathers its also a roo.* Good luck finding some wormies!

I did see it thanks! How do you grow your own? Is there a how-to-guide on here somewhere?
