Hi I was wondering if it would be a good idea to intentionally put mealworms in a compost pile that chicken have access too. I've raised mealworms before but I didn't like sorting through all the pupae. My hope would be that the mealworms could live off the compost and as the chickens were scratching around they'd find an occasional treat. Any ideas?
~Thanks

Sounds like a reasonable plan. My guess is that while some larvae would survive and create a colony, the natural insects in the pile would soon take over and it would revert. Why don't you try it, and post your results here. It certainly would be easier than keeping a colony in a bucket.
