Mealy eggs?

I asked her, but she was stumped.

However...

I did ask an old friend back in Ohio, who said that fresh eggs don't hard boil very well. One should wait a week before hard boiling them.

Works for me.

Just FYI, should anyone else need the information.

Hi,

I haven't had any problems with hard boiling my eggs the day they were laid, except that they were hard to peel. But thanks to a very helpful thread on this forum, I have solved that problem, also. In case you need any help with that, here is a link to the thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=115799

I hope your next hard boiled eggs are better. Genie

Did anyone ever figure this out? It’s happened with our eggs a couple different times, years apart. I think it might have something to do with it being summer, and the actual hens being too hot, as it’s always been summer when I’ve noticed it. I’ve been doing everything I can to keep them cool here, (sprinklers, shade tarps) but we’re in the middle of a totally unseasonal heatwave; it’s off the charts even for our late summer temps, and it’s only June! The “feels like” temp was over 50 degrees Celsius the other day- poor girls!
