mean chicken!!!

i was holding my hen sunset and my little chick, zoolander , jumped on my lap and then sunset started to peck at zoolander and started to bawk and she is very rude. i think i might trade her in lol.

well idk what she is someone said it was a rir but idk.

well i have to catch her just to hold her and she wont come near me at all!! and the other hen i could walk up to slowly and pet. and the chick is just plain attached to me! lol i got all of them at the same time and they are new to me. is this normal?

Every chicken has his or her own personality. It is amazing the difference between birds, even though we only have one breed.

We wait to find out what each one is like so we can give them the correct name.... Time changes how birds act and react.. so be patient, because she could end up the favorite bird over time.

I've had hens that i thought were on the way out and now are very pleasent hens.

I can only speak for my 3 RIR hens... they are very "independent". They dont like attention as well as the others.. and my hens will fight like roosters.. but sometimes one of them will let my husband carry her.. although its rare.. and it dont last long..

One of my RIR's follows me around like a dog, and when I enter the run she trots up to me and expects to be picked up.

Do you all name your chickens? We have 30, but I don't really want to name the roosters as most of them will probably end up on my dinner plate! I'm still trying to figure out which ones are roosters and which ones aren't!!

Im gonna step out on a limb and say if you plan on eating them... Dont name them.. lol... not all of mine has names just a couple that stands out a little more for one reason or another...
