mean chicken

hi all
i just bought 2 RIR pullets and 1 RIR rooster
the rooster is a friendly little thing
but those 2 pullets are mean and bullies and if you pick them up , they try to eat you up
i find it funny right now
but i worry about when they get bigger
is this just a RIR's nature
they are about 2-3 weeks old now

Just keep handling them, and more than likely they will be like little pets as the grow up. Good luck!

My experience with RIR's is that "they are bossy" with other chickens. They also do know where the food comes from and will respond to good handling by humans. Lucille, our current RIR comes to us for protections, even though she bosses the other hens. I have no problem handling her. When she is under the weather for whatever reason, she easily complies with whatever treatment I administer.
